Who are the Roses?

The Hartford Wild Rose Women’s Rugby Football Club was established in the spring of 1976 comprised of the girlfriends and wives of the Hartford Wanderers Men’s RFC. After seeing a women’s team from Boston play, they decided to form their own team. Several members of the Hartford Men’s Rugby Team helped get the Hartford Women’s team started. Today, we play among the elite of Women’s teams in the United States.  The longevity of this team has proved you definitely don’t have to be crazy to play rugby, just ready to take the hits and keep on going!

The Roses’ participate in tournaments across the East coast. The team travels from Maine all the way down to DC for tournaments and matches. In the summer the Roses play in various 7’s and 10’s matches to stay in shape for the Fall season.
